Webinar "Natural capital markets for watershed services - Actors, Mechanisms, and Impacts" - Event review

On Wednesday, February 16th 2014, the third webinar of the project „Natural Capital Markets“ took place. During the webinar, Joost Bakker (Natural Capital Markets) together with Nathaniel Carrol and Genevieve Bennet (both Ecosystem Marketplace) focused on the use of market (based) instruments to conserve watershed services. Gold Standard Study Identifies Billions in Environmental and Social Benefits

Economists captured and monetised the environmental and socio-economic net benefits of 109 Gold Standard projects. TEEB for Business Brazil project calculated the natural capital impacts of different agricultural practices

The project presents the results of a study that compares the environmental value of different agricultural practices for producing palm oil and soybean, based on pilot studies carried out by cosmetics company Natura and agricultural products firm Monsanto. On February 17th 2014, the second webinar of the project „Natural Capital Markets“ took place. The topic was payments for ecosystem services (PES). Joost Bakker (GNF) presented successful conditions for PES programmes.
